Privacy

You can read news, and buy or restore a plan on iOS, without signing up for an AI News account. We use the data needed to protect the service, send the notifications you choose and verify the ad-free plan.

Data on your device

The sources you follow, your notification choices, read markers, saved articles, the feed and downloaded reading content are stored on your device. Your read and saved lists are not synced to an account. You can change sources, unsave articles or uninstall the app to delete local data.

Connection and account

Firebase Authentication creates an anonymous user ID so the app can connect to the server. Firebase App Check uses app and device verification information to limit spoofed access. The server processes the user ID, app ID, session and technical request information to authenticate, prevent abuse and provide data. Google Cloud infrastructure may record the IP address, time, path and status of requests in operational logs. We do not put X API keys in the app.

Buying and restoring a plan on iOS uses your App Store account; the app does not ask you to enter an email or create an AI News account. For an AI News email account linked in an earlier version, Firebase continues to process the email and authentication information to manage or delete that account. We do not store readable passwords in the app's database. If you choose to send a support email, your email address and message are used to answer your request.

Optional notifications

Only when you turn on notifications and allow them on your device does Firebase Cloud Messaging use your device's notification token and the source topics you chose to send you news. Turning notifications off in the app unsubscribes and deletes the current token. You can always change the operating system's permission in Settings.

Advertising

Google AdMob and the User Messaging Platform process the information needed to serve and measure ads and to prevent ad fraud, which may include device identifiers, IP address, approximate location inferred from the IP address, ad interactions and diagnostic data. The app requests non-personalized ads. These ads may still use data for frequency capping, measurement and fraud prevention. On iPhone and iPad the app shows no cookie consent prompt and does not track you across apps or websites, so it does not ask for tracking permission (ATT); in regions that require consent, ads may be limited or not shown. On Android, if your region requires it, Google's consent message appears before ads load and can be changed under Ad privacy.

Reports and blocks

When you report an item or block an account, the server stores the source, item ID, link, blocked account, reason and a hashed anonymous user ID for 180 days so the report can be handled. The list of accounts you block is kept on your device.

Purchases

The app store you buy from (the App Store on iPhone and iPad) handles payment. We do not receive card numbers. The server verifies the store's transaction proof, product, term and renewal or refund status to grant or revoke ad-free access. On iOS, the server also verifies the app transaction proof signed by Apple to check restore rights with the same App Store account. Transaction and linking IDs are tied to the app's technical user ID, including a guest ID; we do not receive your Apple account email or password through this flow. The price and purchase terms in effect are those the store shows when you confirm.

Providers and original pages

The app uses Google Firebase, Google Cloud and Google AdMob; Apple or Google handles store transactions. The main server is in Singapore; providers may process data in other countries. When you view images or video from a source or open the original page, your device connects to that service, which has its own policy. See Google's privacy policy and Apple's privacy policy.

Retention and deletion

Security sessions expire; a session family expires after at most 30 days. User IDs and transaction data are kept to protect the connection, restore purchases and verify entitlements until you ask to delete the corresponding user data. When you delete guest data or a linked account in the app, the server deletes the Firebase ID and that ID's transaction data and revokes its sessions; hashed replay-protection markers may be kept for up to 30 days before background cleanup removes them. Ordinary operational logs on Google Cloud are kept for 30 days. Mandatory infrastructure audit logs are kept for 400 days under the Google Cloud configuration. They serve security and troubleshooting and are not used as a personal reading history.

If you still use an email account linked in an earlier version, go to Settings → Account → Delete account. If you use guest mode, go to Settings → Delete guest user data to delete the anonymous user ID and revoke its sessions on the server. Your source choices, saved articles and notification settings on the device are kept; when it connects again, the app may create a new guest user ID. You can also read the deletion request guide. Deleting an account does not cancel a store subscription. You can send requests to access, correct or delete data to thedat08101999@gmail.com. We only ask for the minimum information needed to verify ownership and never ask for passwords or 2FA codes by email.

Content and contact

The app is for readers of technology news and is not designed for children. Support emails and information you choose to send are used to answer requests, handle complaints and fix problems. If this policy changes significantly, we update the date on this page and tell you in the app when needed. Any questions about data: thedat08101999@gmail.com.

Language and on-device translation

In the multilingual version, the interface language, the translation target language and your choice to allow model downloads are stored on the device. You choose when to translate an article; the original can still be viewed. Text is processed by Apple Translation on iOS 18 or later, or by Google ML Kit on supported Android devices. AI News does not send text to its server to translate it. The server may still provide the original content when you open an article, as described above. Translations are kept only temporarily in the app's memory and are not synced to an account.

The first use may require downloading a language pack from Apple or Google after you agree; Android requires Wi-Fi to download models. These packs are managed by the platform, separately from the temporary translations. On Android, ML Kit may send diagnostic and usage data to Google, including device and app information, installation identifiers, performance, errors, model download events and the source, target or detected languages. On-device translation does not mean the SDK processes no technical data. See ML Kit's data disclosure and Google's privacy policy.

App ratings

After some use, the app may invite you to rate it through the app store's own rating prompt. App-open sessions, articles read long enough and invitation attempts are recorded on the device to limit how often you are asked, and are not sent to the AI News server. AI News does not receive the stars or text you submit in the store's rating interface.
